General Contractor in Stoney Creek
Post-war bungalows near Battlefield Park, back-splits toward the lake, Mountain townhouses and new Fruitland–Winona two-storeys, on both sides of the escarpment.
Stoney Creek drains two ways: most lots to the Hamilton Conservation Authority, some south-east headwaters to the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority. Add the Lake Ontario shoreline, the former City of Stoney Creek By-law 3692-92 and the Fruitland–Winona Secondary Plan. Before any addition or fit-out there, CarpentryBoys Inc., as general contractor, checks both conservation maps and the old by-law.

Housing stock
Lakeplain bungalows, Mountain townhouses and Winona new builds
Below the escarpment, Old Town around King Street East keeps a few 19th-century houses near Battlefield House. Spreading north toward the QEW are 1950s and 60s bungalows and storey-and-a-halfs in the Battlefield area, then 1970s and 80s back-splits and side-splits. Their basements run 2.0 to 2.3 m, and many hold a basement kitchen or cold cellar from an earlier owner. Above the escarpment, upper Stoney Creek grew from the 1990s west of Highway 20. Heritage Green along Paramount Drive is a condominium townhouse community, and newer towns line Rymal Road East and Upper Centennial Parkway. East of the core, Fruitland and Winona were orchards. Older farmhouses and lakeshore cottages now sit beside new subdivisions near Fifty Road and Highway 8.

Frequently asked questions
Renovating in Stoney Creek: local questions
It depends on which way the lot drains, not on the postal address. The Hamilton Conservation Authority covers the lower town, the Stoney Creek and Battlefield Creek valleys, the lakeshore and much of the Mountain. The Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority covers south-east headwaters draining to Twenty Mile Creek, including parts of rural Vinemount. Both issue permits under Ontario Regulation 41/24. We check both maps at the first visit.
It can change what you may build and what the City asks for. The plan guides more than 10,000 new homes across Fruitland and Winona over 10 to 15 years, with new roads, parks and servicing. For an older Winona house, that can mean a road widening, municipal water and sewer replacing a well or septic system, or zoning that now permits more units. We check all three before an addition or rebuild.
Possibly. The former City of Stoney Creek Zoning By-law 3692-92 still applies to lands Hamilton hasn’t moved into By-law 05-200. The Residential Zones Project moved most low-density lots, but some areas need a closer look, and many Fruitland–Winona subdivisions carry site-specific zoning. The interactive zoning map shows which applies. Setbacks, height and coverage differ between 3692-92 and 05-200, so a design must be checked against the right one.
